When I saw some pictures of a special kind of marmoset apes, I recognized the black-against-white-patterns, combined with warm orange and yellow-green tones. Seeing the facial expressions they tend to make, I simply had to illustrate this picture.

It was done in digital watercolor and I wanted to keep it fresh and not too highly detailed. In fact, that was the toughest part. Not to go too far, add all the little things I saw on top of what I already had. That wouldn’t have been possible in traditional watercolor, so I stopped when I started zooming closer and closer while working.
