The Settlers 7

Before we started working on The Settlers 7, we already knew where we wanted to go. Exaggerating the shapes and the animation while keeping everything crystal clear visually has always been the top priority.

We had a lot of fun making all of that happen, and I think it still shows. I can still remember how I occupied the meeting room to film myself doing weird motions as reference for the countless workspace animations.

In a game like this, most players see the action pretty far away and the scene is busy with workers. Overexaggerating the motions was the only possibility we had to support the clarity of the gameplay. And since the workers at their workplaces act their motions tons of times, we had to make sure that it’s fun watching them, again and again.
