Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
I knew the more recent depictions of Jekyll and Hyde, but didn’t really know much about the more classic depictions of Hyde until I read some more about them. While doing so I liked the version of Hyde being some kind of alternative state of mind of Jekyll, mainly distinguished by the cloth he wear, trenchcoat, cylinder and a stick to strike his victims down.
A rough airy sketch was the main inspiration I needed to start the basic idea of this picture. From then on I tried to put more and more detail in without making it all too noisy, still trying to keep it loose.
I like the idea of Jekyll trying his drugs for the first time, and then Hyde approaches him through the mirror. This is also a big part of the stories. I wanted to show the inner conflict he’s going through, when he’s still human enough to actually feel it.
